About Tonnage Bridge

Your own stretch of the water.

Tonnage Bridge is the waterside side of our family farm at Dilham, where ten luxury pods run along our own private length of the North Walsham and Dilham Canal. They are deliberately spread out, each with its own quiet piece of bank, so you are never on top of your neighbours.

Every pod is a warm timber lodge with a full kitchen, a shower room, central heating and a king‑size bed, plus twin, single or bunk beds depending on the style. Outside there is a wood‑fired, chemical‑free hot tub, a fire pit with a grill, a picnic bench and your own launch onto the water. Push off in a canoe before breakfast, or follow the 3.5 km circular walk from the door.

Families and dogs are very welcome here. Looking for a quieter, adults‑only break? Our Broad Fen couples pods are a few minutes away in the nature reserve.

Good to know

Tonnage Bridge questions, answered.

Which pod style should we choose?

It comes down to how many of you there are. King + Twin pods (Heron, Coot, Harvest Mouse) sleep 4 across two separate rooms, ideal when the children want their own space. King + Single + Bunk pods (Hedgehog, Bittern) sleep 5 across two rooms. King + Bunk pods (Water Vole, Moor Hen, Shrew, Kingfisher, Otter) are open plan and sleep 4, great for a couple with a dog or a family of four.

Are dogs allowed at Tonnage Bridge?

Yes. One well-behaved dog is welcome in every pod for £20 a stay. Please keep dogs on a lead around the canal and the other pods.

Are children welcome?

Very much so. Every pod sleeps 4 or 5 with bunk or twin beds for the children, and there is a canoe launch, a fire pit and a 3.5 km circular walk straight from the door. Children must be supervised near the water at all times.

What is the minimum stay?

Two nights, rising to three nights in peak season. A 50% deposit is taken when you book and the balance is due six weeks before you arrive. Full details are in our booking terms.

Does every pod have a hot tub?

Yes. All ten pods have their own private wood-fired, chemical-free hot tub beside the water. One bag of wood is included and extra bags are available.

Can we paddle from the pod?

Yes. Every pod has its own launch onto our private stretch of the North Walsham and Dilham Canal. Hire a canoe, kayak or paddleboard on site, or bring your own vessel and self-launch for £10 a day.

Can we book more than one pod for a group?

Yes. Our group bookings page shows availability for all ten pods side by side so you can pick pods next to each other and book as many as you need. For four or more pods, or exclusive use of the whole site, call us on 01692 513889.
